Gross is every year’s top-grossing movie, since 1913, reviewed.
MOM AND DAD, WILLIAM BEAUDINE, HYGIENIC PRODUCTIONS, 1945, 97 MINUTES. HARDIE ALBRIGHT, LOIS AUSTIN
I’m just dropping this here because - according to my usual source - this was the top-grossing Hollywood film of 1945, the year the war ended, the year the great moderation began, the year the soldiers came home - to love and work and a Chevy in the driveway.
It’s called Mom and Dad and it’s billed as a ‘sex hygiene’ movie. It’s essentially a public information film warning young people against, well, you know, sex. It’s on YouTube. Watch it if you can bear it. We can talk about it next week.
